The Estate
OUR HISTORY
Herdade do Alto do Pina was sold in 1989 to Sociedade Agrícola Herdade do Alto do Pina, Lda., by the heirs of the Lupi Alves Caetano family. Subsequently, in 2006, the same heirs sold their stake of this company to António Joaquim Gonçalves, current owner of Grupo Libertas.
Sustainable Homestead
With an area of more than 550 hectares, the Estate operates entirely within the principles of organic farming. With its various orchards, cork oaks for cork production, and vineyards (both for table grapes and winemaking), the estate embraces the biological approach as a complementary activity in its asset management. This not only strengthens the dynamics of the property, but also contributes to sustainable management of the territory, promoting the diversification of uses, stimulating biodiversity and maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.
OUR VALUES
The commitment of Herdade do Alto do Pinas family project is to produce hight quality organic wines that express the soul of Poceirão, a region traditionally recognized for wine production in the Setúbal Peninsula, Portugal.
Environmental Concern
Aligned with our vision and the principles of this mode of production, we favor the use of local resources and cultural, biological and mechanical methods over synthetic materials. Our central concern is to preserve and improve long-term soil fertility, protecting natural resources such as soil, water and air, while eliminating all forms of pollution that may arise from inappropriate agricultural practices.
